Hotels in Galicia and green Spain
You will find a good selection of hotels in the towns and cities of Santiago de Compostela, la Coruna, Sanxenxo, Cambados, Lugo, Vigo and Pontevedra. All of these places (and many more) have a number of large and small hotels available. Most of Galicia's hotels are of a good standard, but you need to check the classification and star rating to make sure that you know exactly what you are getting. If you are planning a first trip to the region, a hotel base in or close to Santiago, Vigo, Pontevedra or la Coruna is probably a good starting point.
If you go back to our main hotels page you will find a link giving details of the differing classifications of hotel type available in Spain and you should use this information as a guide to ensure that you book a "real" hotel rather than a "Fonda" or "pensione". The later two options are fine, but only if your expectations are geared accordingly and you are looking for cheap and cheerful rather than luxury and facilities.
Thinking of organising your accommodation on your arrival! This is not ordinarily a problem during the out of season period, however it will be almost impossible during the month of August when many Spanish holiday makers travel from central and southern Spain to holiday in northern territories like Galicia and Asturias.
Finally, most of the towns that you see described in our city guides will have a selection of holiday accomodation within them. Small family run B & B's can be good and they usually prove excellent value, however you may not have facilities like wifi or evening dining.
Good luck with your hotel search.
